Quintin honoured

LEPHALALE — Quintin Nieuwenhuis (33), Master Technician at Matopi Ford, was recently awarded as the 2016 Technician of the Year and his certificate was handed to him on Friday 8 September at Matopi Ford.
To be eligible for the yearly Technician of the Year competition, you should be qualified as senior specialist in five disciplines, namely electrical/electronic senior specialist, gasoline (repair and performance), diesel (repair and performance), drivetrain (manual and auto transmissions) & chassis (steering and suspension, climate and brakes senior specialist).
All disciplines comprise of online (web-based) and classroom training which amounts to 664 hours classroom and about 74 hours online training.
The criteria used is:
The technician must be a Master Technician (this is a senior specialist in ALL disciplines); he must score the highest marks in all examinations (theoretical and practical) done in that year (80% is the minimum requirement); and this is backed up by a comprehensive report on the vehicle faults found and actions taken by the participant to rectify them.
Quintin was chosen as Technician of the Year from 540 participants in the Ford Dealership Network around the country.
Quintin has been in the profession for 12 years, nine of them with the Matopi Ford team.
Quintin says he believes that he gets recognition for the extra mile he walks and he is humbly grateful and proud. He thanked the Matopi Ford team as well as his wife, Elize, who sacrifice a lot during the times that he attended courses elsewhere.
