In addressing water challenges experienced at some villages of Lephalale, the Local Mayor, Cllr Moloko Jack Maeko, met with traditional authority representatives (herdsmen) at Thabo Mbeki on 15 February 2021.
During the meeting, the Mayor introduced Unity Construction as the contractor which will be completing the Mokoruanyane-Shongoane Phase 4 Water Project. Work at the project will resume next week and expected to be completed in a period of four months. Villages that will benefit from the project are Steve Biko, Mmatladi, Melvel, Ga-Monyeki, Ga-Mocheko, Hlagalakwena and Keletselemme.
The project which started in 2015 was stopped in 2017 due to compliance challenges by the contractor which have now been addressed.
The completion of the project will be a Milestone that will ensure that communities have access to clean water. The resumption of the project was welcomed by representatives who attended the meeting.
