LEPHALALE – Members of Lephalale SAPS conducted a safety awareness campaign at Mmamojela Park Informal Settlement on Sunday 18 February.
The campaign was conducted in partnership with the Community Policing Forum (CPF), SASSA, Lephalale Municipality, Lephalale FM and the Department of Health.
Warrant Officer Frans Mokoena, Lephalale SAPS spokesperson says the campaign focused on crimes such as domestic violence and theft by false pretence.
The community was warned against the selling of jobs and purchasing items without getting a receipt for the purchase. The police warned them that buying stolen items could lead to their arrest.
Women were encouraged to speak out against domestic violence and by doing so, also protecting their children. Pregnant women and children were examined and representatives of SASSA checked the grants for children.
