LEPHALALE — Lephalale SAPS, in cooperation with officials from the department of Home Affairs, the municipal traffic department and a security company held a huge road block on Friday 11 November.
According to WO Frans Mokoena, Lephalale Police spokesperson, they also struck a major blow through the stop and search of taxis. It came to their attention that the latest crime tendency is for shoppers to pack a trolley full of items – either clothing or groceries – from chain stores. When they want to pay for their shopping they are stopped by someone who may for example say to them for R2 500 (for a trolley full of items that would cost R5 000) they will let them leave out the back door of the shop.
WO Mokoena says they also focused on ATM fraud as well as people pretending to be police members.
