Security officer in for attempted murder

WITPOORT — A 45 year old security officer was arrested for attempted murder in Rietfontein Village over the past weekend after he allegedly shot a man in his leg after an argument about R5.
WO Frans Mokoena, Lephalale SAPS spokesperson, says the suspect allegedly offered the victim a lift in his car after which they started to argue about R5 which the victim didn’t have.
WO Mokoena says the suspect wasn’t arrested at first, but some of the local people told the police that he fired a shot at the victim.
He was arrested for attempted murder per CAS26/9/2016 and the fire arm was found to be legal and registered in his name.
At the time of going to press, the victim was still in Witpoort Hospital and the suspect was in Witpoort SAPS holding cells.
