ALMA — Three sisters, currently living in Pretoria, paid a visit to Laerskool Alma, their alma mater on Thursday morning 16 May and feelings of nostalgia overwhelmed them.
Hannie de Witt, Lettie Truter and Marthie Botha (their maiden name is Kritzinger) recalled the period from 1959 to 1960 when they were learners at Laerskool Alma.
The Kritzinger sisters and their spouses were very impressed with the school’s “charming” appearance, and according to Cornelia Erasmus, Educator at Laerskool Alma, the staff and headmaster are proud of the school’s history and they happily share the memories of former learners.
The sister’s experience was among others that “the more things change, the more they stay the same”.
The sisters were on their way to a lodge near Modimolle to get away from the city when they decided to pay a visit to their alma mater.
Laerskool Alma is tucked away in the Alma Valley and surrounded by the eminent Waterberg Mountains.
