On Tuesday 30 May Limpopo Provincial Commissioner Lt Genl Nneke Ledwaba accompanied by his Deputies and the Provincial Heads hosted the Provincial event of “Take a Girl Child to work” at SAPS Polokwane offices.
30 girl learners from 13 clusters in the province attended with majority coming from Mecklenburg and Vuwani where schools were recently disrupted by protest actions.
17 year old Sara Monyeki from Mabalane Seleka Technical School represented Lephalale Cluster.
Sara said she learnt that SAPS is not only about police arresting criminals but a department that has variety of careers from police men and women, advocates, animal health practitioners, the aviation sector and forensics which deals with DNA, finger prints and the slightest details to assist in tracing criminals.
She said she was thankful to have been part of this year’s Take a Girl Child to Work Campaign.
The objective of this campaign is to expose young girls to the work environment and give them more career options in fields they might not have heard of before.
