Tent pegging champs

Fred en Inge

LEPHALALE — Fred Pistorius (Grade 10) and Inge Prinsloo (Grade 9), learners at Hoërskool Ellisras, took part in the Limpopo Tent Pegging Championships in Modimolle on Friday and Saturday 6 and 7 July.

Fred was announced as Limpopo Best Man and he shared the Victor Ludorum award. It was the first time Inge participated in this competition and she did very well, and she won quite a few medals.

Tent pegging is a cavalry sport of ancient origin and is one of only ten equestrian disciplines officially recognised by the International Equestrian Federation. Used narrowly, the term refers to a specific mounted game with ground targets. More broadly, it refers to the entire class of mounted cavalry games involving edged weapons on horseback, for which the term “equestrian skill-at-arms” is also used. (Source: Wikipedia)
