Thaba murder arrest

THABAZIMBI — The police in Thabazimbi arrested 36 year old Richard Jampa for the alleged murder of his girlfriend, Thapelo Cilga Ramorotong (26) on 5 March 2017 around 04:00.
According to police, it is alleged that Jampa was with Ramorotong and according to him he was driving along a street in Thabazimbi when the vehicle they were travelling in caught fire. He tried to pull her out, but the car exploded and burnt to ashes with the deceased inside.
Preliminary investigations by the police have revealed that there is a possibility of foul play after it was found that they had domestic conflict at their house which led to Ramorotong’s death and subsequently her body being burnt inside the car.
Jampa was arrested and at the time of going to press he was still in hospital where he is receiving treatment for injuries. Two unlicensed firearms were recovered at the scene during the arrest but the origin was still unknown.
The suspect appeared in absentia before the Thabazimbi Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday 7 March as he was still in hospital.
He will appear in court in person on a charge of murder as soon as he is discharged from hospital.
Police investigations are continuing.
