LEPHALALE — Mogol Post received a complaint from residents in Peter Mokaba Street in Onverwacht regarding sewage running in Steenbok Street, a gravel road parallel with Peter Mokaba, bordering the resident’s backyards.
A ditch was dug along the road in which sewage flows freely and a huge hole along the road is also full of sewage. At the same time it is a risk because someone may fall into the hole, especially at night.
Some of the residents have made holes in their walls so that the sewage does not back up into their backyards. Mogol Post spoke to Sonja Nel, one of the residents, and according to her a municipal official visited them a while ago after several complaints, but since then the situation worsened. They were forced to make a hole in their wall due to the amount of sewage backing up in their yard.
The manholes are clogged.
In short, it is just one more sewage disaster in Lephalale.
According to residents, a TLB came in to dig the ditch. They also allege that municipal sewage trucks drive in and out on a regular basis to dump the sewage in the ditch.
The sewage situation in town and surroundings reached a new peak. It seems that the Municipality is not competent to address the problem and do something about it. There is nothing right about the sewage system as it is currently.
Mogol Post asked the Municipality for feedback several times, however none was received at the time of going to print.
