LEPHALALE — The traffic lights at the Nelson Mandela and Wells Streets crossing in Lephalale town have been out of order for the past few weeks.
Some motorists simply do not stop to give other motorists a chance. Flashing red lights indicate that the intersection is supposed to be treated as a four way stop – but some motorists seem unaware of this basic some traffic rule. The crossing is a collision waiting to happen.
Mogol Post inquired at the Municipality to determine why the traffic lights are not being repaired:
“There was a motor vehicle accident that occurred at corner Nelson Mandela and Wells streets a few weeks ago, damaging the traffic lights.
“The Municipality is currently in a process of procuring material for repairing the affected traffic lights.
“Motorists are advised to drive with caution, exercise patience, and obey the traffic rules.
We apologise for the inconve-nience,” said Communication Mana-ger, Conscious Chiloane.
