LEPHALALE — Lephalale SAPS is investigating a case of culpable homicide after a bus (registration number HGZ 983 MP) that was transporting school learners from Hoërskool Ben Viljoen in Groblersdal from the Inter High Athletics competition in Lephalale, collided head-on with an Opel Corsa Lite with registration number BHT 677 L.
The incident took place about 4 km outside Lephalale on the R510 Lephalale-Thabazimbi Road at around 20:10.
According to Warrant Officer Frans Mokoena, Lephalale Cluster Spokesperson, two people (the driver and one passenger) from the Corsa died on the scene and one passenger, a woman, was seriously injured. According to Mokoena she was still in a coma at the time of going to print and therefore could not provide any information regarding the identities of the other two people. According to information, the driver of the Corsa was a Zimbabwean national. The injured woman was admitted in Ellisras District Hospital.
Mokoena said none of the learners or the driver of the bus were seriously injured.
They were only very traumatised.
