LEPHALALE — Two people lost their lives after the driver of a minibus lost control over his vehicle when he swerved to avoid hitting a herd of cattle crossing the road and landed up in a storm water drain.
According to W.O. Frans Mokoena, Lephalale SAPS spokesperson, the incident happened around 19:15 on Saturday 1 October on the R518 road near Shongoane. The driver of the fully loaded minibus was transporting passengers to Steilloop.
One of the passengers died on the scene and another one passed away on arrival at Witpoort Hospital. The driver was admitted to Witpoort Hospital but was discharged on the same day.
A case of culpable homicide is opened at Villa Nora SAPS.
