Vehicle theft syndicate cracked

POLOKWANE — The SAPS Provincial Tracking Team conducted an intelligence led operation which led to a major breakthrough by cracking a motor vehicle theft syndicate operating from Ivydale Plot outside Polokwane on Saturday.
The police followed a suspected stolen car until it entered the plot and discovered a number of suspected stolen vehicles. A Toyota Yaris, Nissan Sentra, Mazda 3 and a Ford Courier LDV were recovered.
The preliminary investigations have revealed that all these vehicles were registered in Botswana and their chassis numbers were filed off. The police also found a lot of registration documents from Botswana and Zimbabwe as well as Botswana license discs.
One suspect (20) was arrested for possession of suspected stolen motor vehicles and he appeared before Polokwane Magistrate Court on Monday 27 February.
Police investigations in terms of determining the origins of these vehicles are continuing.
