MARAPONG — “Make back to school as exciting as it should be … send us back to school and keep us safe”. According to Maphuti Nong going back to school provides children with a sense of normalcy and school is where children should be and fit in with the right school uniform.
Maphuti wanted to do something for vulnerable schoolchildren and approached Koena Motlaoutsi, a teacher at Nelsonskop Primary, to help her identify less privileged boys and girls in Marapong who they can help with school uniforms and shoes.
It was then decided to assist the Grade R learners of Ditheku Primary with this worthwhile initiative. However, Maphuti of Mapooty Reshape and Glow, who contributed R5 000 to this initiative, has also touched the hearts of the community that was especially helpful in donating school shoes. Although they identified 88 learners, they could only help 24 children in Grade R with brand new school uniforms and shoes.
It is clear that this initiative will not end here because Maphuti and Koena are already planning to identify other schools in Marapong with learners in need. They also invite the community to get involved again, and help the boys and girls attend school with pride and dignity. They thank everyone who contributed to the initiative.
