VAALWATER — A bright and sunny Friday 22 January saw the Waterberg Academy Interhouse athletics day take place with excited learners in the pre-school phase lining up for their track events.
Barend Pretorius, a new teacher in the high school, opened the day with prayer and the order of the day.
“A good number of records were broken with students giving of their best. A big thank you to all the teachers and parents that helped make the day the success it was,” said Waterberg Academy Sports Coordinator, Andre Bridger.
Davidson- and Kirkman-House encouraged their fellow team mates to go all out but at the end of the day Davidson House was victorious in winning the athletics cup.
Some of the students that broke records where Ruben le Roux (u.11) 100 meters, Tristan Gorie (u.15) 100 meters, Callum Roy (u.11) Shotput, Quinn Harmse (u.14) shotput, Sebapo Pholoba (u.17) Shotput, Charleston Mwenesani (u.16) high jump and Tiishetjo Maila (u.17) with high jump.
The pre-school, junior and senior primary as well as the high school learners all participated in this day.
