LEPHALALE – On Saturday 12th April the Mogol Club offered a successful Contractor’s Cup golf day for the second successive year with 140 players taking part. Last year there were 116 players.
The goal of the day is to provide an informal platform for different contractors to compete and socialise with each other. There was even a team from Botswana.
It is no doubt a very popular competition with some players spending up to six hours on the course – perhaps due to the fact that there were twelve wet holes available for refreshments and drinks. A crazy golf day.
Gert Pepler, president of the golf committee, thanked Jan Beyer in particular for his hard work in ensuring that the golf day was a great success. With his excellent organisation skills Jan handled all the necessary arrangements and the course too was in excellent condition, thanks to the Mogol Club.
In turn Jan thanked all the players and especially that they transformed the day into a great social event. He thanked everyone who contributed toward the success of the day.
Gert observed the prize giving and the winners in the 1-2-3 better ball competition were as follows:
Closest to the pin on hole 4 was Pierre Malan, on 8 Theuns Smit, on 9
D. Frost, on 11 Johan Horn, on 15 Roaan Hefer and on 18 Ged Flinn.
The winners who walked off with the trophy were Eddie Jacobs sr, Eddie Jacobs jr, Tebe Jacobs and Dr Dlamini.
In second place were Jannie Espag, Tommie Muller, Francois Campher and Kobus Booysen.
The evening ended with a great meal.
