LEPHALALE — The Woodroffe and Stavidis Badminton championships took place in Durban from 23 to 29 October – players from six provinces took part in both championships.
The Limpopo teams consisted of 13 players (seven men and six ladies) of which Mogol had seven members in the team namely JJ van Zyl (team manager), Adrian Buhrman, Annelia van Zyl and Emma
Kaber in Woodroffe and Chris Loretz (team manager), Bennie Esterhuizen (team captain) and Greg Florens in Stavidis. Both teams ended second overall in their respective sections.
Considering that this was the first SA tournament for most of the Mogol players, the Mogol badminton section is proud of the achievements obtained by the members.
The following players stood out individually:
Adrian Buhrman obtained an overall ranking of 7 (Woodroffe) and Bennie Esterhuizen obtained an overall ranking of 6 (Stravidis).
Limpopo also won the trophy for the best team spirit (Benny and Greg ensured that Limpopo were heard all over Durban.)
“Thank you for being great team members and for your awesome spirit. We salute you” the rest of the team members said.
Mogol says they are proud of the achievements that the players obtained on the court and their exceptional manners during the whole tournament.
During the AGM the 2018 South African Lower League Championships was awarded to Limpopo and will be held at the Mogol Badminton Club.
