With ten games left for the Women Waterberg Regional League (WRL) season, Skimzozo Football Club (FC) ladies are already the favourites to clinch the title. Skimzozo maintained their top form against all time tough rivals, Academy 11 from Steilloop.
Loyiso “Loya” Mushidi opened by scoring on the eighth minute of the match, putting Marapong ahead 1-0 in a very physical and tense first half. Academy 11 came guns blazing on the second half, forcing Skimzozo’s defenders to make mistakes.
On the fifth minute of the second half, Skimzozo centre-back Tumelo “Bruno” Sekanka conceded a penalty and Academy 11 levelled the score to one all.
After being cautioned with a yellow card in the first half, Skimzozo playmaker Tsietsi “Modi10” Modise received a second bookable offense (red card) in the 20th minute of the second half. Spectators, supporters and Provincial officials at the Shongoane 3 (dangerous darkies’ grounds) enjoyed the showcasing of the two teams.
With the introduction of Mpho replacing Kgothatso “Katsande” in the final ten minutes, Skimzozo FC, with only nine players, picked up momentum and with a great pass from the super substitute, the Lethal Loyiso “Loya” Mushidi shot on target ensuring a crucial 2-1 full-time victory for Skimzozo FC.
