LEPHALALE — Lephalale police are investigating a case of culpable homicide after the drivers of a VW Polo Vivo and a Ford Focus collided head-on on Saturday night 17 February around 22:00 on the R518 (Marken Road).
The two vehicles both burst into flames after the collision and according to police the two people inside the vehicles burnt beyond recognition.
At the time of going to print police could only confirm the name of the VW Polo driver, Lucky Mabote from Maletswai. He was an employee at the Provincial Traffic Department in Lephalale.
The details of the Ford Focus driver have not been revealed as no one has come forward as next of kin.
As investigations continues police say it is not yet clear what the cause of the accident was and further investigation will reveal more details.
This accident happened within three weeks (Monday 29 January) and less than 10 kilometres from where a minibus taxi collided head on with a crafter, catching fire and killing both drivers.
