2 burnt to death

LEPHALALE — The police in Lephalale are investigating a case of culpable homicide after two vehicles collided head-on about 9 km outside Lephalale on the R518 on Monday 29 January around 06:00.
According to Warrant Officer Frans Mokoena, Lephalale Cluster Spokesperson, a Volkswagen Crafter, travelling from Polokwane to Lephalale, collided with a Toyota Quantum minibus.
The Crafter carried the driver and a female passenger (20) but there were no passengers in the Quantum. Both vehicles caught fire on impact and the two drivers were trapped inside and burned beyond recognition.
 The female passenger was transported to hospital with severe burn wounds. Her identity could not be announced at the time of going to print as her relatives had not yet been informed of the incident.
The names of the deceased are Siabelo Sthembiso Zondi (29), the driver of the Quantum, and Phalane Nong (age unconfirmed), the driver of the Crafter.
The cause of the accident was not known at the time of going to print, but police investigations continue.
