Armed robbery went wrong

LEPHALALE — Armed robbers robbed a shop in Phahladira Mall of an undisclosed amount of cash on Sunday 2 February.

Lephalale SAPS K9 Unit received information about the robbery, and they followed up on the call.

The tracks of the suspects were followed into a commercial game farm in the area. A K9 member came under gunfire and retaliated. He requested members of the Community Policing Forum (CPF) for urgent backup.

Eight members of the CPF’s First Responders reacted on his request for assistance, and they entered the farm. They also communicated with the K9 member who was on the scene of contact.

The tracks were followed through difficult terrain, and, the suspects did anti-tracking by removing their shoes. Random checks were done with the farm manager.

Members of the CPF and SAPS divided into two search parties. The one party was patrolling fence lines, and the other group went to the lodge with the K9 officer.

The two suspects (one was suffering from a leg wound) was spotted hiding at the lodge, and they were apprehended with a firearm. The stolen cash in their backpack was retrieved.

SAPS and other role players went to the scene, and the CPF First Responders stood down.
