Back to basics for Festive Season

Lephalale SAPS Cluster Stations and a private security company came together on Thursday 9 November at 09:00 in a special operation to fight crime in the Lephalale area. The focus was especially on illegal shebeens as there is a definite connection between shebeens selling illegal liquor and murders.
The operation, under the command of Lt Col Kwadi, started at Mamojela Park, the informal settlement adjacent to the Stockpoort Road and it ended in Marapong. Many successful arrests were made.
Eight illegal shebeens were raided and two were forced to closed. Two undocumented foreigners were arrested; two dagga plants were uprooted; 159 persons were searched; 118 x 750 ml and 44 x 660 ml bottles of beer as well as 126 x 1 litre shibuku (shake-shake) were confiscated.
Tips for a safer festive season were issued.
According to Warrant Officer Frans Mokoena from Lephalale SAPS, these operations will be conducted for the entire period of the festive season.
