Cases of human trafficking, aiding and abetting

HOOPDAL — The police in Hoopdal (in the Lephalale Cluster) are investigating cases of human trafficking and aiding and abetting.

According to Warrant Officer Frans Mokoena, Lephalale Cluster Spokesperson, suspects were arrested by Hoopdal Vispol Commander, Warrant Officer Hensia Fambe on 19 December 2018 around 21:30 during a roadblock held on the R510 (Sentrum and Thabazimbi Road).

13 illegal foreigners were charged for violating the immigration act.

Petrus Kubayi (37) was charged for violating the immigration act, Act 13/2002, Sec 154, for conveying foreigners as passengers for reward and aiding and abetting.

Justice Ndou (43) and Chakemo Fayisa (43) were charged for violating Act 07/2013, namely human trafficking as well as for violating the immigration act, Act 13/2002, Sec 49(2) for knowingly assisting illegal foreigners to enter or remain in the country.

Chakemo Fayisa came with the amount of R19 500 to pay for Petrus Kubayi for contravening the immigration act, Act 13/2002, Sec 154, for conveying foreigners as passengers for reward. He was with Ndou, driving a white VW Polo with registration number HR 79 HC GP.

The 13 illegal foreigners were transported with a white Quantum minibus with registration number CF 82 JZ GP. The minibus was traveling from Johannesburg to Musina and the driver was requested to transport the13 arrested illegal foreigners back to Johannesburg.

Police investigations continue.
