Criminals target empty houses

LEPHALALE — According to Captain Mabila, Lephalale SAPS Visible Policing (Vispol) Commander, the more than 50 unoccupied houses in Lephalale are currently a huge target for criminals.

“We have a problem with criminals who break into the unoccupied homes to steal copper, taps, etc.,” Captain Mabila said during the meeting of the Community Policing Forum (CPF) on Thursday 20 September.

During the period August-September, there were more than 30 house breakings in Onverwacht, 87 people were arrested the contravention of the Road Traffic Act (RTA), including drunken driving, 84 undocumented people were arrested and 64 people were arrested for the contravention of the liquor act.
