LEPHALALE — Lephalale and Modimolle based Twitter powerhouse Daniel Modimo, affectionately known as #danielmarven, has scooped the Best Dance House Single in the #LIMA19.
The Limpopo Music Awards were recently held in Polokwane, and Modimo’s single “KuRough” (meaning things are tough) earned him an accolade in the Best Dance category.
Modimo, who is a true reflection of hard work and breaking boundaries, has used Twitter to the best of his ability, reaching many followers and well-known media personalities across the country.
“With winning this award, I want to send a strong message to upcoming young artists that you don’t need to have celebrity status to make it big. You can make it from the dusty streets of Lephalale or Modimolle,” he said.
He says artists do not need to come from well-established record labels to make it and further encourages those who are still trying to make a mark in the industry to keep knocking on the doors until they open.
“One thing we need to remember is that a lot of musicians record songs and do not bother to apply for awards or submit their music. How will an artist be voted for when they do not apply?”
“I am very proud of my achievements, and I want to tell the world that I am coming to scoop more awards,” he concluded.
Daniel Modimo is originally from Maletswai Village outside Lephalale, and he spends most of his time in Lephalale due to his weekday errands.
He has a family in Modimolle and spends some of his time travelling the country to promote his music.
His Twitter handle @danielmarven has 425k followers and he uses it as a tool to make his music known.
