LEPHALALE — Lephalale SAPS, Social Crime Prevention and Crime Prevention conducted a door to door campaign on Thursday 15 November, led by Brigadier John Masia, Lephalale Cluster Commander.
Police members visited residents in among others Worsboom, Waterbessie, Waterberg, Stamvrug and Essenhout Streets.
According to Warrant Officer Frans Mokoena, Lephalale Cluster spokesperson, the main purpose of the campaign was to look for a specific suspect who has already committed several crimes in the area, including an alleged rape. He is also wanted for common robbery and housebreaking. WO Mokoena said the suspect is terrorising the community.
A photo of the suspect was circulated on various social media platforms in order for him to be identified by the community and that it can be reported to Police. Some people came forward and said that he sometimes has an afro hairstyle.
Police also received information that he is from Steenbokpan and that he allegedly uses a fake name “Sassa Snonori” on Facebook. Another Police informant said he was also spotted in Marapong recently.
Anyone with any information about the whereabouts of the suspect can contact the Family Violence Child Protection and Sexual Offences (FCS) unit at 082 414 1995 or Detective Captain Hlungwane at 082 565 7968.
