LEPHALALE — Members of Lephalale SAPS, the Department of Health, the Environmental Health inspector, the Municipal Traffic Police and SANDF held a joint operation on Friday 24 July. The operation, Operation COVID-19, led by Lt Col Kwadi started around 09:00.
According to Warrant Officer Frans Mokoena, Lephalale SAPS Cluster spokesperson, the aim of the operation was to deal with alert compliance during alert COVID-19 lockdown.
The focus was on shops, post offices, shopping complexes and other hot spot areas.
Various food products of which the expiration date has expired and cigarettes were seized from three shops in Lephalale town.
Suspects were arrested and charged for the contravention of the Disaster Management Act/Reg 12 July 2020 for the selling of expired food items and tobacco.
