LEPHALALE — The Lephalale SAPS and Security Companies Forum gathered at the SAPS boardroom on Monday 25 February. The meeting was organised by Col Daniel Ramakgoakgoa, Lephalale SAPS Station Commander.
He said the purpose of the meeting was to establish a forum that will deal with the fighting of crime around the Lephalale SAPS policing area – especially in hot spot areas. The hot spot areas around Lephalale town, Onverwacht and Marapong were identified and input was given.
The forum suggested more joint operations, focussing on the hot spot areas, to be held.
One of the hot spots that will be targeted is the informal settlement next to Ellisras Provincial Hospital where the forum suspects many criminals are hiding.
Col Ramakgoakgoa emphasized the importance of a good relationship between Police members and members of security companies. He also urged the forum to not be negative about each other. Any negative issues will be addressed by Col Ramakgoakgoa.
