LEPHALALE — The 49-year-old Hellenkie Mapitsi Mashiane appeared before the Mahwelereng Magistrate Court on Thursday 20 June on three counts of fraud.
She was granted bail of R500, and the cases against her were postponed to 30 July 2019 for further Police investigations.
The arrest follows allegations that three customers bought furniture at a store at Steilloop Shopping Complex. They were assisted by Mashiane, who was the store manager at that time. The goods they purchased were however never delivered.
The three customers went back to the store to lodge a complaint only to learn that she was no longer working at the store, and the other staff knew nothing about their purchases.
The police were notified, and cases of fraud were opened. After further investigation, Mashiane was arrested in Lephalale where she was already working at another furniture store.
Further Police investigations revealed that she robbed the furniture store of thousands of Rands during her period of employment.
The investigation continues.
