Limpopo Tent Pegging

The team that will take part in the national championships

LEPHALALE — Tent Pegging, formerly known as Gymkhana, involves swords and lances, with which the rider must strike an object at full gallop. Tent pegging is a cavalry sport of ancient origin and is one of only ten equestrian disciplines officially recognised by the International Equestrian Federation.

The past weekend Limpopo Tent Pegging contestants gathered at Mogol Club’s horse-riding club for a Limpopo training camp with Hannes Pistorius as the coach.

The team will be competing in SA Jnr Tent Pegging Championships from 9 to 13 December 2019 at Beaufort West in the Western Cape.

Hi-Q Ellisras sponsored the team with jackets, and the team members say they will wear it with pride during the championships.

The team, led by coach Hannes Pistorius, is Fred Pistorius from Lephalale (Captain), Lianke and Herman Fourie from Modimolle and Dean Botha from Mookgophong.
