LEPHALALE — The theatre play of the Ever Green Arts Centre, Lephalale the Musical, continues to spread the message of peace, love and unity among the people through art.
On 8 June they had a show at Lephalale TVET College and a week later they performed at The Blue Theatre in Soweto.
Under the theme “To know where you are going you must know where you come from”, the group says they are happy with the response they get from fans across the country.
Ever Green Chairperson, Bafedile Masasa, said due to their performance usually being at night and the venue in Onverwacht, some fans, who don’t have their own transport, cannot attend.
“We, however, love what we do, and we are grateful for the enormous support all the time,” Masasa said.
The play in Soweto was in conjunction with the 16 June (Youth Day) activities and how the commemoration of the Youth Month came about.
Masasa says before playing at Soweto they were taken to the famous Vilakasi Street where they took pictures around the area, including at the house of the former President Nelson Mandela.
“The experience was nostalgic, and the truth is playing in a theatre space of that nature brought new dimensions we never encountered before,” he said.
Masasa also said the Ever Green Arts crew have learnt important skills that they will use to be better than previously as they continue to tackle societal challenges through art.
