LEPHALALE — The sheer number of people who took part in the SPCA Warrior Muddy Race, held on Saturday 18 November at The Junction, exceeded everyone’s expectations.
According to Desire Cloete, SPCA volunteer and organiser of the event, thousands of people turned up to participate in the family fun day.
“The SPCA Lephalale desperately needed money for the festive season ahead because from experience we know there are people who leave their animals at home when they go on vacation. I discussed the idea of a Muddy Race with Lukas Venter, owner of The Junction, and we decided there was nothing we could lose.
This brainwave resulted in a highly enjoyable and successful day and an astounding amount of R70 000 was raised for the SPCA. 74 teams entered for the Muddy Race.
“The money will be used mainly for animal food for the festive season, but it will also help to finance a number of other essentials,” Desire says.
The management of Lephalale SPCA as well as the organisers and volunteers thank each and every one who took part in this family event for supporting them and a special thank you to Lucas and Marleen Venter for being able to use their facilities.
“Thank you Lephalale”.
