LEPHALALE — Team Lephalale flew the Municipal flag high when they scooped position two in the Inter Municipal Sports of South Africa (IMSSA) games which took place at Mogalakwena Municipality. Twenty-one Municipalities of Limpopo Province participated in different sporting codes from the 7 to 8 June 2019.
Lephalale Municipality participated in three sporting codes which are soccer, netball and volleyball. The results are as follows:
▪ Soccer won the group stage, however lost at the quarter finals;
▪ Netball won the group stage and lost at the quarter finals; and
▪ Volleyball, out of 21 municipalities, it occupied position two and received Adidas attire and medals.
The IMSSA games aims to improve morale and health of municipal employees in all Municipalities of South Africa by promoting physical activities which includes different sporting codes and games.
The IMSSA also seeks to promote regional collaboration, integration, knowledge sharing, training and capacity building by rotating games to various municipalities.
Speaking during a session to welcome the volleyball team, Cllr Lesibana Monare who is attached to the Municipality’s Transformation, Labour, Sports, Arts and Culture portfolio, congratulated the team and expressed appreciation for their sterling performance.
