Operation “New Dawn”

Lephalale Police held an Operation New Dawn from 14-17 June in an effort to curb crime. The operation took place around Lephalale town, Onverwacht and Marapong by means of roadblocks stop and search, the raiding of shebeens, taverns and the selling of second hand (stolen) goods.

During the operation, six people were arrested for public drinking, 17 were arrested for being illegal immigrants, three for selling of liquor without a license, one for rape, one for housebreaking and theft, 204 for shoplifting, six for assault GBH, one for common theft and one inquest was reported.
