LEPHALALE — The community of Lephalale is shocked once again by the death of the 28-year-old Thoawana (Thomas Zenith) Papo, the son of the well-known Pastor William Papo of the Living Letters Ministry in Lephalale.
According to Police, Thoawana, a hip-hop artist, was killed on Friday 9 August around 01:50 at the corner of the Engen Garage in Lephalale town when the driver of a coal truck allegedly hit him. The driver did not stop and drove away.
According to information, the driver of the truck stopped at the kiosk at Engen to buy cigarettes. CCTV footage shows how Thoawana was dropped at the corner by someone who gave him a lift, and he started walking in the direction of Herman Street.
He was hit by the truck and declared dead on the scene.
At the time of going to print, Warrant Officer Frans Mokoena, Lephalale Police Cluster spokesperson, confirmed that the police are hot on the tracks of the truck driver.
A case of culpable homicide was opened at Lephalale SAPS, and the investigation continues.
The Papo family also lost a son, Given, in a car accident four years ago.
The details of the funeral arrangements have not yet been finalized at the time of going to print.
