There are only a few weeks left before Christmas. The sad thing is, some disadvantaged families are not looking forward to the Festive Season as it will be the same as any other day or week.
It is for this reason that Founder and Director of Thola Lesedi Foundation, Lazarus Kgageng, is encouraging those who can, to assist with gifts that will be given to kids as Christmas presents.
“The reason behind the formation of the Donate Gifts Project came after we realized that while growing up, most children from disadvantaged families don’t know the joy of receiving a Christmas gift.
“We do it to revive the spirit of Ubuntu as well as the joyful spirit of Christmas. As a result, we aim to collect 50 gifts for 50 kids, and the age group is from 8 to 17 years.
Kgageng says they plan to have a Christmas lunch on 22 November with children that will benefit from the donation.
Kgageng says they will go to schools and ask for a name list of learners who come from disadvantaged families where both parents don’t have a job.
They also plan to monitor learners whose school uniforms are worn so that they can arrange for new uniforms next year.
“The Thola Lesedi team will appreciate any help from anyone to put a smile on the little ones faces by donating a gift under the hashtag #Donate Gifts for Kids.
Anyone who can assist, please contact Lazarus Kgageng on 072 373 7003 or Buhle Seolwana on 065 680 9949,” he concluded.
