LEPHALALE/ABBOTSPOORT — The National Teachers Award Ceremony took place on Wednesday 20 October at Laerskool Ellisras. Teachers were awarded in various categories.
For the first time ever, two teachers from Jacob Langa Lower Primary School in Abbotspoort entered the competition, achieving good results. Beauty Hlako, the acting principal, received a trophy as well as a certificate for Excellence in Primary School Leadership. Her fellow colleague, Johanna Ngwako, Head of Department for Foundation Phase, received the Nelson Mandela Life Time Achievement Award.
The Jacob Langa Lower Primary School that was founded 1940, is about 65 km from Lephalale and has 756 learners from Grade R to 4.
The school is very proud of what they are doing to develop and uplift the circumstances as well as the lifestyle standard of the learners and the community at large, says Beauty.
Johanna told Mogol Post that she is proud to be a veteran in education and sees education as the most important platform for every career. Jeanett Majadibodu (Grade 3 educator) and Angela Mokanzi (Grade 2 educator) were so motivated by their fellow colleagues that they decided to sign up for the competition next year.
