Andrew St. Clair-Laing, chairman of LSS

LEPHALALE — “This year, unlike previous years, I don’t want to talk about how well we have performed throughout the year, but rather I wish to dedicate this time to say thank you.” These were the words of Andrew St. Clair-Laing, chairman of Lephalale Site Services during LSS’s spectacular year end function on Thursday 7 December 2017.
He said that it is a great privilege and honour to welcome all the guests on behalf of LSS to this important occasion that marks another milestone in their journey at the Medupi Power Project and as a business in Lephalale. St. Clair-Laing thanked Eskom for the opportunity to supply meals to Medupi’s workforce and to have guided them through some rough waters. To date, LSS has served more than 25 million meals and he said that LSS believes that they handle this catering contract with professionalism and integrity. He said that companies Moon Cloud and Tsebo have experience a unique opportunity in partnering with them over the past seven years to deliver the catering services at the Medupi Power Station Project and at the same time they have learned from each other.
He thanked the traditional leaders for their support as well as their suppliers, all from Lephalale and which are 100% black owned. St. Clair-Laing had a special word of thanks to all LSS’s employees who worked tirelessly to ensure that the Medupi workforce is fit for their business and praised the amazing management team at LSS who have soldiered on in their quest to deliver excellent service. He also said that the LSS board of directors proved that corporate and community can work together in search of a common goal.
St. Clair-Laing mentioned the two very significant awards LSS achieved; namely their Level 1 BBBEE certificate and the ISO 9001:2015 compliance certification which is a real world class achievement that speaks volumes to the commitment and aspirations of the LSS team in Lephalale.
They also transferred skills to employees from the local community and have employed and given dignity to many handicapped people. LSS had awarded more than
4 200 accredited training certificates since the inception of their contract at Medupi.
