LEPHALALE — Members of Mogol Badminton Club represented Limpopo in the Woodroffe and Stravidis championships in Johannesburg from 21-26 October.
Players Petro Kruger, Jonina Grobler, Bennie Esterhuizen, Chlarisa Strydom and JJ van Zyl were part of the Stravidis team while Annelia van Zyl, Emmie Kaber and Frank Scheun were representing the Woodroffe section of the tournament.
Competition was fierce, however the hard work and dedication of Mogol’s players paid off with a dominating victory in each of the categories. The Stravidis team won their league with an astounding 27 of their 28 games ending in victory. The Woodroffe team also had a decisive victory in their league.
At the start of the tournament an open league was also held where several more local players (Tommy Muszynski, Adrian and Ilzé Buhrmann) took part. Mogol managed to claim four of the five consolation prizes while the rest of the players performed very well in the tournament.
The following players were ranked in their respective leagues:
Stravidis B women: Petro Kruger (1), Chlarisa Strydom (2) and Jonina Grobler (3). Mens: JJ van Zyl (2) and Bennie Esterhuizen (3).
Woodroffe B: Frank Scheun (Mens 3) and Annelia van Zyl (Ladies 5).
